These images are screen shots from
throughout the IE alpha cycle. The final version of
Internet Explorer 4.0 will appear different than what
these images indicate due to numerous changes and
updates.
- The Start Menu (5k)
had a Browse the Web option with Smart Favorites
as one of its items.
- The coding (8k)
for the new interface is generated automatically
from HTML template documents in the windows\web
folder.
- Hyperlinks give one-click access to desktop icons (5k) and folders (3k) in Windows
Explorer.
- The Internet (16k)
has a special HTML template to describe its
contents.
- The Windows (17k)
folder in My Computer. Note the forward and back
buttons on the toolbar and the Tasks folder.
- My Computer alone
(17k) and in Windows
Explorer (21k).
- The active desktop with MSNBC (8k) or Pointcast (24k) news.
Pointcast even has live stock
(18k) updates running on recent alphas.
- Browsing from Windows
Explorer (32k). The toolbar is dynamic and
changes into a browsing toolbar when viewing web
pages.
